Yogi company had a humble beginning in the year 1946. Its founder late Lalubhai Jijibhai Patel was a industrious man with a great vision. He started a small bidi making unit at his native place known as Koyali, a small village that falls under the Baroda District of Gujarat.
As business started flourishing he pursued fresh grounds for spreading his business. In his pursuit to expand he started a bidi manufacturing plant at Kozhikode known as Calicut in Kerala.
He chose this place after a careful study about the prospects of his business in this part of India.
Kerala had always a good potential for bid business, since most of the population were bidi smokers. Another point was, that this bidi industry required abundant manual labour for functioning profitably. Abundant labour was available in plenty in this part of Kerala.
Thus this unit started off successfully as expected by the founder.
